About us
EdzUp was established in 1981 at the start of the micro computer craze, our founder first got a Sinclair ZX81 all those years ago (a machine he still has) and began programming games for it, back then all you could do was program the computers as being able to save and load not as easy as it is today. It was from these humble beginnings that EdzUp has continued to grow over the years that followed, we have programmed on the best machines available and had to fix them over the years to keep them in working order.

Over this time we have programmed games and utilities on machines ranging from the simple zx81, ZX Spectrum, Commodore Vic20, 64 and Amiga machines right up through IBM XT's, AT (286), till we finally got to where we are today. Its our ideal that writing games on machines that only had 1Kb-64Kb of ram allowed us to better learn to optomise our products and make better use of all of the hardware and software that we have available to us, this means that no matter what we create it will always use as little resources of the host machine that are needed.

It was this journey that EdzUp has programmed and released several titles that have been met with varying degrees of success, utilities like NewDir written in C and published by PC Plus. Games ranging from Death, Ants to things like Space Combat (WarZone) published by idigicon. To this day we are still writing software and still moving ever forwards into new areas and discovering new ways to create bigger better games and utilities.

We are currently studying Python as a replacement for our aging C++ systems, porting Ultim to Python is a nice exercise and something we are enjoying doing at present. Python itself is a very powerful language and one that we are very excited to be actively studying and learning how to use effectively.
